Village Head and others tortured by Hsipaw Battalion

In Oman Village, Manthong Township the Village Head, village committee members and youth were tortured by Hispaw’s battalion.

“When the Burmese army arrived at the village on October 27th 2011, they tied up the Village Head and some of village committee with rope before they interrogated them asking them questions about the Kachin army. As there were not any Kachin army in the village, they beat all the villagers” said an eyewitness.
Most of the Oman villagers are from Kachin and Lesu ethnicities that live there. The military threated the villagers as they suspected the village of supporting the KIA.
The military has already arrived in Man Sat village and they will continue to Kachin State to pursue their fight with KIA. They not only force local people to be porters they also randomly arrest innocent people that cross their path.
Recently in September, Burmese military Battalion No.501 forced the villagers to porter and took their horses and mules to carry their weapons in Manloi, Nanglin and Manlan villages, Namhsan Township, Northern Shan State.
